PASSED CCIE R&S WRITTEN

Today I have successfully passed the CCIE R&S written exam (87%). This is grate day and I cant wait already to go to the lab exam in Belgium. The written was very hard 100 Q with very little time but after hands on practice and a lot of Cisco online documentation reading (mostly troubleshooting guides) i have successfully done it. keep in mind that the written is only a small portion of the real CCIE R&S and the true exam is the actual lab, I have some way to cover before I will go to my first lab (also because unlike the written the lab is not 30 min from home and 300$ for attempt). the lab is the real deal 8 hr 5hr flight from home and 1500$ for the exam alone. so I intend to take as much as I can lab prep guide and lab time in my favorite lab believe me when I say I am not getting any thing from them and I do not own and stocks but they where the easiest and most friendly lab prep I have found. Most of the other labs have tones of security and tools like java (I hate java) applet tools to access there equipment. and pricing, don't get me started there are labs that want you to pay for the same 4 hr you get for 15 $ between 20 to 50$ why?! Do they give you gold?! I will stop here before it will sound like a commercial. CCIE LAB here I come

CCIE PREP

well you decided you want to be CCIE?! Good for you :-) Now you need to decide how you will do it, as you probably know (and if you don't I will tell you) CCIE is the most professional test there is in the industry today. So to sucessed in this exam you need to know "some stuff" the exam is divide to 2 sections Written Lab Cisco suggest tones of books for preparing you to the exam, and no dugout you need to know all of it to sucessed but you can narrow it down if you have some experience like CCNA and even better CCNP prior to this. although Cisco do not prevent you to do the test if you do not have prior certification, believe me it is much easier if you do this first, 1) you get to know what Cisco expect in there tests 2) you do not been bombarded with all the material at once 3) you get some experience (you must get hands on experience if you want to pass the lab). So you see it is not all bad you just need to be with lots of patients and self study skills and you will do it for sure. note that there are some prep bootcamp around the world today but they are relatively expensive. and not any where so if you are close to such location you are Lucy and be advised that a teacher can either make your life easy or can make your life much harder (bad teacher). So get some recommendations before going to such school. SO GOOD LUCK

Introduction

This is not my first block and probably not the last, I love every once in a while to open a new block and after I had enough to close it. My Name is Shiran and I live in Israel (For now) I am married with a butiful wife name Vered and we have a son on the way (in the oven). Currently I am working in a private company as an Integrator and Planner of VoIP Networks. "intresting, not?" well yes it is intresting and with a lot of chalanges in today hybrid networks, today it is already a vast spreading word, every body "know" what is VoIP everybody is over there, NOT! every body wants to be there as this is the new kid on the block and this new kid has some nice features and options that the legacy telephony do not. back to me I am on my proffestional hadding to become CCIE R&S, you probebly ask your self why R&S when you talked until now about VoIP, why not the CCIE VOICE?! well CCIE VOICE is nice but cover more Cisco Products and Technology then real world VoIP. it is true that 60 - 70% of the world of R&S is based Cisco but this is far from it on the VOIP world, R&S is a very good certificate as it contains very high internet and lan protocol and application unerstanding what is a must in the way of becoming VOIP ready network. SO CCIE R&S as far as i see it is the way to start!
